The letter, signed by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, referred to the values and gratitude of the two countries’ citizens, their progress in these new times and the continuity of the struggles for the rights and well-being of Latin American and the Caribbean families.
The leaders of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) stated that Cuba, also under the historic leadership of Fidel Castro, has been an example of light, life and truth since January 1, 1959, especially for the Nicaraguan triumph in 1979.
“There we feel present, active and combatants, enlightened by permanent hope and optimism in Fidel, Raul, Miguel and each one of us,” said the signatories of the message, who described the current times as times of combats, battles and victories.
Both Ortega and Murillo valued the daily creation, courage, spirituality and the patrimonial treasure of the history of Cuba and Nicaragua, referred to the struggle and heroism of both peoples and to the optimism and commitment to peace that inspires and reaffirms progressive movements in the region.
