Cuba plans to increase exports in 2022

Havana, Dec 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuba plans to increase exports of goods and services in 2022, and expects to obtain around 9,4 billion dollars for this concept.

The figure represents an increase of 851 million compared to 2021, with tourism playing an important role in it, hoping to receive 2.5 million visitors.

According to information offered to the Parliament in the eighth regular session, exports in the sphere of telecommunications are also expected to grow, with 803,315,000 dollars, two percent more than in the current year.

Nickel, tobacco and sugar remain at the top of the list of products marketable abroad, plus biopharmaceuticals.

The Economic Plan approved by the Cuban legislature estimated the figure to be reached on the concept of the latter spheres at 274,771,000 dollars, which represents of 162 million dollars compared to 2021, mainly due to the export of vaccines.

Cuba expects to end the year with a two percent growth in gross domestic product (GDP), after starting a process of gradual recovery of its economy.

The goal set for 2022 is a four percent increase in GDP, for which, as the authorities have stated, it is important not only to advance in the measures adopted in economic matters, but also to maintain control over the Covid-19 pandemic.
