In a statement, the UN pointed out that three WFP warehouses were looted by unknown armed groups since past December 28.
The WFP announced that activities in North Darfur will be called off till further notice, so this would affect nearly two million people.
While no injuries or deaths have been yet reported and all WFP staff are safe, it is critical that humanitarian resources and teams are protected from such heinous actions, the UNSG spokesperson pointed out.
On Wednesday, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned constant looting and attacks on WFP warehouses, equipment and supplies.
Mr. Guterres called on the Sudanese Government to restore order and ensure that property and assets of the former UN and African Union peacekeeping mission in Darfur are used strictly for civilian use, in accordance with the agreement signed in March, 2021.
