Costa Rica confirms 14 new Omicron variant cases

San Jose, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) Costa Rican Institute for Research and Teaching in Nutrition and Health (INCIENSA, in Spanish) on Tuesday confirmed 14 new Omicron variant cases, raising total number to 18.

Two of the new confirmed omicron variant cases were contacts of the first case confirmed on December 19. Of the total, 12 are Costa Ricans and two are foreigners (Colombian and Italian), aging from eight to 58, nine women and five men, the country´s Health Ministry reported.

The health ministry specified that two of the affected people had a history of recent travel to the United States, while neither had required hospitalization; 10 were symptomatic, presenting muscle and joint pain, headache, fever, cough, and nasal congestion.
