Sector personnel attend and deliver medicines to those affected by the floods, explained the head of the Risk Management Unit in Environmental Health, Emergencies and Disasters of the Ministry of Health, Lizeth Ganci.
Health specialists take care in particular -he added- of patients with colds, stomach pains and other pathological conditions caused by the rainfall disaster and the overflowing of rivers.
Since December 26, the medical brigades have also treated some 90 patients with diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections, contact dermatitis and urinary infections.
Ganci regretted that the Department’s Health Service of Santa Cruz did not respond “to date” to the request for a report requested by the central government on the situation in that region.
The executive also works on the installation of temporary shelters and evaluates with the Civil Defense and the National Emergency Coordination Center the possible evacuation of patients according to medical criteria.
