According to the official, the safeguard plan in the country will last until the first days of January and, among the recommendations related to festive dates. The official urged the population to avoid excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Figures released by the Police indicate that, thanks to permanent operations in various cities of the country and measures such as the confiscation of 170 driver’s licenses, on December 24th and 25th there were 60 percent fewer road accidents compared to a similar period of 2020.
Recently, the authorities of the National Directorate of Roads and Transportation indicated the registry of 1,465 deaths in more than 9,400 automobile incidents that occurred this year, with a significant increase in this month of December.
Accidents are the second cause of violent death after homicides in the country and, according to National Police officials, this year may end with about 250 fewer deaths than the previous year due to restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
