Cuba reported 89 new Covid-19 cases and no deaths

Havana, Dec 23 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP, in Spanish) on Thursday reported 89 new Covid-19 cases, nine more than on Wednesday, 76 local ones and no deaths in the past 24 hours.

The country has reported 964,406 cases with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, since its breakout in March 2020, and the death toll remained at 8,317, according to the report released by the Ministry.

Some 2,647 patients remain hospitalized in health care centers; 2,113 are suspected cases; 181 are under epidemiological surveillance and 353 are active ones, 337 of which have a stable clinical evolution; 11 patients are in a serious condition and 5 are in a critical one, the report added.

Some 955,679 patients have recovered from the disease, that is, 99.1 percent; and the death rate is the lowest in the Americas (0.86 percent), compared to 1.95 percent in the world.

The American continent reported 101,647,946 cases (357,539 more), 36.66 percent of the total number of cases reported globally, that is, 12,019,261 active cases and 2,417,690 deaths (3,566 more), so the death rate is 2.38 percent.
