Spurs´ Ginobili heads first-time Hall of Fame nominees

Washington, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) Argentinean Manu Ginobili, former player of San Antonio Spurs, appears for the first-time in the list of candidates to enter the Hall of Fame.

Born in Bahía Blanca (July 28, 1977), the former South American basketball player stands out among candidates for the Class of 2022, thanks to his leading role in winning the San Antonio trophies in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014.

Winning the Sixth man of the Year Award in 2008, the six-six guard averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assistances in just 1,157 games with the Spurs.

A pivotal figure within Argentina’s Olympic golden generation, Manu Ginobili won two All-Star nods and the basketball player of the week three times in the 2002-2003 season.

Among eligible candidates for the Class of 2022 include Tom Chambers, as well as coaches Gary Blair, David Hixon and referee John Clougherty.

The Naismith Hall of Fame will reveal the finalists for the Class of 2022 at NBA All-Star Weekend on February 18 in Cleveland, Ohio.

They will then announce the entire Class of 2022 during the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans, Louisiana, sometime during early April.
