In past eleven months, there were 1,516 more deaths from gunfire than in 2020 and 1,39 more people were injured than in previous period, GVA posted on Twitter.
In total, there are more than 43,000 deaths reported from January to November 2021, making this year as the deadliest one due to shooting-related incidents in the last decade.
Plus, GVA referred to the high number of mass shootings (685 so far), in other words, 74 more than in 2020. It shows that deaths toll has been on the rise since 2014.
Violence by firearms is an issue in the United States, where the easy access to guns makes 42% of households bear at least one gun.
In addition, the United States reports 40% of weapons circulating in hands of civilians worldwide with just 4% of population globally.
In this regard, it is estimated that over 390 million firearms are borne in hands of US civilians, equivalent to about 102 weapons per 100 inhabitants.
