Poorest states of Mexico are concentrated in the south

Mexico, Dec 21 (Prensa Latina) The National Council of Assessment of the Policy of Social Development (Coneval) recognized there is a concentration of poverty in the south of Mexico, particularly in Oaxaca, Chiapas and Guerrero.

There are areas in those states where practically all of the inhabitants live in poverty, most of them indigenous groups.

Ninety percent or more of the population of 175 municipalities of Oaxaca, out of 570, live in despondency.

Coneval’s data shows something similar in Chiapas: 90% or more of its population in 44 out of 124 municipalities live in poverty.

Over 90 percent of the poulation in fifiteen municipalities in the state of Guerrero, out of 81, also live in poverty.

According to the study, the course of the development of the country has left marginalized, and practically in the ruin, most of the indigenous and rural municipalities in the country.
