According to the Agriculture Minister Ydael Pérez, such measures are in line with the Government’s management stalwarts for the use of scientific development, computerization and communication, in promoting the Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education Plan.
The 63 new regulations strengthen municipal structures and articulate state and non-state productive managements, Mr. Pérez said at the 8th Session of the 9th Legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP, in Spanish).
He pointed out that among the Agriculture Ministry´s top priorities are to promote urban and suburban agriculture developments; control over the land use and dispute, and to foster milk, corn, rice and beans production, in accordance with the available financing.
In this endeavor, the Agricultural Development Bank has recently passed 252 loans, 153 more than at the end of October, 194 of which are goal-oriented to direct producers, he pointed out.
On the other hand, Mr. Pérez said, land was given to 11,000 cattle producers, but there are 22,000 in need of that resource, and work is being done to financially support about 23,000 cattle producers.
Mr. Pérez expressed the need to change the structure to massify small livestock production, promoting the establishment of micro-, small- and middle-enterprises and cooperatives.
