According to the legislative report posted on the website of the Venezuelan Parliament, the entity legislated during the year in different areas of social interest, such as the protection of the elderly, indigenous languages, the partial reform of the Penal Code, the penitentiary system and child violence.
The legislators elected in December 2020 also passed laws related to gender-conscious language, development of new enterprises, human rights, and phenomena such as racial discrimination and violence against women, among others.
Jorge Rodriguez, President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, highlighted on Wednesday the work done by the parliamentarians of the ruling and opposition parties during the year.
Rodriguez affirmed that the present legislature completely annulled the threats to the country’s stability promoted within the Parliament between 2016 and 2021, as he recalled the plans by the parliamentary extreme right wing to destroy the institutionality and replace it by a self-proclaimed government.
