US agents cannot pursue anyone in Mexico, says López Obrador

Mexico, Dec 16 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Thursday said US law enforcement agents cannot enter his country to pursue alleged criminals as they did before.

Mexican president´s statement was made during his morning press conference at the National Palace regarding the case of Joaquín (El Chapo) Guzmán´s sons, for whose denunciation or warrant US government is giving a high amount of money as reward.

Chapo’s sons have close ties to drug trafficking to the United States, and due to this unlawful trade over 100,000 people have died.

However, López Obrador warned that if US agents have entered Mexico local authority is charge of stopping them. No foreign law enforcement force is allowed to act in this matter or in any other in our territory, he reiterated.

Plus, he said that foreign law enforcement agents were allowed to meddle in raids in our country years ago, as in the case of violation of our sovereignty as they launched the fast and furious operation by which US government introduced illegal weapons to commit assassinations.
