Swedish solidarity reaps one million syringes for Cuba

Stockholm, Dec 16 (Prensa Latina) The Swedish-Cuban Solidarity Association on Thursday reached its goal of reaping 1 million kr (Swedish Krona), about €98,000, equivalent to one million syringes to support vaccination against Covid-19 in Cuba.

In a brief statement, the chair of the Association Zoltan Tiroler recalled such a solidarity campaign had been launched in the spring.

It seemed like a big challenge, but we did it two weeks before the end of 2021. It really makes us very proud, Mr. Tiroler said after recalling that 1 kr is equal to one syringe.

Mr. Tiroler claimed this campaign will continue operating till the end of 2021, surpassing initial goal set to support Cuba.

Solidarity with Cuba is much stronger than what local media might recognize, he stressed.

Speaking with Prensa Latina earlier this month, Mr. Tiroler thanked all contributions made by several sectors of Swedish society to this initiative.

Plus, he said that when they collect an amount of money, it is transferred directly to MediCuba Switzerland, company in charge of processing the purchase of syringes.

The Swedish-Cuban Solidarity Association stands out for its support for Cuba to fight the blockade imposed by the United States and the destabilizing attempts.
