Tishkovets said that this figure is 20 percent of Moscow’s monthly precipitation rate this month and assured that such heavy snowfalls on this day have not been recorded since 1993.
According to the expert, the heaviest snowfall occurred in central Moscow, where about 11 millimeters were detected, while in the northwest of the city, 10 millimeters of snow was confirmed.
Tishkovets explained that these phenomena are anomalous and they are related to an active wave front, TASS news agency reported.
The meteorologist warned that the most powerful snowfall was set on December 7, the greatest in 72 years. He recalled that the average snowfall rate for December stands at 56 millimeters.
