Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), noted that 538 cases were detected last week, totaling 963,693 contagions since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.
In his regular press briefing on television, Dr. Duran also pointed out that during the first 11 days of December, only 1,000 people have been reported with the disease, including 51 imported cases.
The expert noted that 58 Covid-19 pediatric patients were reported in the last week, accounting for an average of eight cases a day.
Dr. Duran pointed out that in the last week, four people died due to complications related to the disease, for a total of 8,313 deaths. No deaths were reported due to Covid-19 on Sunday.
Cuba continues to report a death rate of 0.86 percent, compared to 1.97 percent globally and 2.4 percent in the Americas.
To date, 2,663 patients remain in hospitals, 2,034 of them are Covid-19 suspects and 292 are under epidemiological surveillance, Dr. Duran said.
