According to FANA Broadcasting Corporate, between August 31 and September 4, the insurgent group killed at least 26 citizens in 15 separate incidents in Chenna, following sporadic clashes with the federal forces.
In Kobo, a territory which they invaded in mid-July, 23 individuals, including several farmers, were shot in four separate events on September 9.
Those killings highlight the urgent need for the United Nations Human Rights Council to establish an international mechanism to investigate each of the abuses committed by the TPLF, the report suggested.
Witnesses of the killings, family members and neighbors of the victims, religious leaders and doctors, among others, were interviewed in Chenna and Kobo in September and October, as part of the investigation.
In November 2020, the Government launched an offensive against the TPLF, the former ruling party of the Tigray region, which was declared terrorist by Parliament and accused of assassinating civilians, among many other crimes.
