Ortega, presidential advisor for Investments, Trade and International Cooperation, reiterated the nation’s recognition to the legitimate Government of the Asian territory and the breaking-off of ties with Taiwan and its commitment to avoid any official relationship or contact.
Ortega expressed Managua’s admiration for the success and economic development achieved by China and its global position, and recognized the willingness to strengthen relations between that country with Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the South-South cooperation.
Representatives of Nicaragua and China signed a joint communique in the port city of Tianjin this Friday about the restoration of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level and mutual recognition.
The agreement establishes the development of friendly ties between the two states, based on the principles of respect to sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-aggression, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit and peaceful coexistence.
