The plant, next to the Ciro Redondo sugar mill, in the central province of Ciego de Avila, will be connected to the national power grid on December 20.
The plant will burn sugarcane bagasse and other biomass like mimosa bushes, a species that grows throughout Cuba.
After starting up operations steadily, the plant will contribute to save 100,000 tons of oil a year, as well as reducing CO2 emissions by 300 tons.
