Brasilia, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) Over 21,000 Brazilians were diagnosed with Influenza A (H3N2) in last three weeks, local health sources reported Thursday.

Patients came from Rio de Janeiro, the municipal health department confirmed, whose local authorities said they may probably face up an epidemic.

During a week applying no Covid-19 vaccines to immunize the population, it was informed the vaccination campaign will be resumed on Friday, after Brazil´s Health Ministry delivered as many as 100,000 vaccine doses.

Rio de Janeiro is currently planning to open five healthcare and Covid-19 testing centers for patients with influenza-like illnesses due to high demand at emergency care units.

According to local press, people with symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat and headache, as well as changes in smell or taste, are being treated.
