Biden spoke about the issue with sincerity and emotion, the Russian official told reporters, referring to this part of the meeting between the two heads of State held on Tuesday via videoconference.
Ushakov said that both presidents expressed the alliance between the two countries in the face of that situation and agreed that this unity should be recalled more often to confirm the special responsibility Russia and the United States have to maintain peace and stability.
He announced that Putin and Biden began the conversation by expressing their satisfaction with the results of the June 16 meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, and discussed the progress of the consultations on strategic stability and cybersecurity.
According to the Kremlin, the internal crisis in Ukraine and the lack of progress in the implementation of the 2015 Minsk agreements, which are the undisputed basis for a peaceful solution, were the priorities of the meeting, the text stated.
Regarding the bilateral problems, the two presidents accepted that cooperation is still unsatisfactory, which is particularly manifested in the difficulties the diplomatic missions of both countries are facing to carry out their work.
The Russian presidential press service indicated that the conversation was frank, professional, and both leaders agreed on the need to continue the conversation.
