In an interview with local media at the national government’s headquarters, the president considered his attendance to parliament unnecessary, despite a warrant issued the day before to clarify doubts about his alleged links with companies in offshore territories.
In this regard, the head of State decided to send a letter to the unicameral congress with a verdict issued by the State Comptroller General’s Office, which decided to dismiss the investigation into the so-called Pandora Papers, in which Lasso’s relation with tax havens is established, due to a lack of supporting elements.
“The report is convincing and absolutely clear, therefore it is not necessary for me to attend the National Assembly taking up the office of the Comptroller or to repeat the comptroller’s report,” he insisted.
