International project favors facing climate change in Cuba

Matanzas, Cuba, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban province of Matanzas is granting economic incentives to reverse financing or actions in the sustainable use of biological diversity, and in the confrontation and adaptation to climate change, local media reported on Tuesday.

Instrumented in Cuba through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Ecovalor’s national implementation agency is attached to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

Nelvis Gomez, coordinator of the initiative in the western territory, highlighted the results in the mid-term evaluation, due to progress in the enforcement of Law 113 on Tribute, in aspects related to the use, basification and exploitation of the Bay of Matanzas.

“This element shows the sustainability of the project once it ends in the 2023-2024 biennium. The relevance of this action has been demonstrated, and we know that it will be maintained over time and the number of taxpayers will increase,” she indicated.
