Five years after the signing of the Peace Agreement in Colombia, we have received with optimism the decision of the United States to withdraw the defunct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), today the Common Party, from the list of foreign terrorist organizations, underlines the letter.
It adds that without a doubt, this is one of the clearest demonstrations of the consolidation of the Peace Process, which has been fundamental to expand the democratic space in the country and show the world that it is possible to reach peace through dialogue.
“In the framework of that spirit that today motivates you to make this decision, we come to you to request, in the most respectful way, that you consider promoting similar initiatives against the Republic of Cuba,” they emphasize in the text.
It recalls that Colombia would not have been able to advance in the dialogue and achieve peace agreements without the participation of states such as Cuba, Norway and the United States.
It adds that without a doubt, Biden’s presence at the signing of the Peace Agreement in the city of Cartagena five years ago, then the US vice president, was a message of support from the US Government for peace in Colombia.
