Claudia Peralta, from Chile and one of the group’s organizers, expressed her gratitude for the altruism of Cuba and its people with the world, which shows that “everything can be blocked but solidarity.”
For his part, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin, Ernesto Santiesteban, highlighted the support from the brigade members in their fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, as well as the different donations made in this difficult stage of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Until next December 15, all 21 brigade members, from various cities in Canada, will meet with health professionals, including members of the Henry Reeve Contingent, with broad support in internationalist medical collaboration.
They will also visit at Ibero-America’s House, Bariay Key, where Christopher Columbus landed on October 28, 1492, and will participate in a volunteer work day in an agricultural center in the city of Holguin.
The Brigade’s agenda in eastern Cuba also includes tours of places of historic-social interest in the provinces of Las Tunas, Santiago de Cuba and Granma.
