Bolivian government delivers food to flood victims

La Paz, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian government delivered nearly 19 tons of food to families affected by the floods that occurred in recent days, local media outlets highlighted.

The first batches were supplied to inhabitants of the municipalities of Cliza and Toco, in the department of Cochabamba, the Bolivian Information Agency reported.

The Deputy Minister of Civil Defense of Bolivia, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, said in an interview with Bolivia TV that there is a commitment to mobilize heavy machinery to work on rebuilding the damage caused by the heavy rains.

Calvimontes detailed that 17 municipalities throughout the country reported floods, and mentioned more than 2,200 people affected.

He also reported that the department with the most municipal jurisdictions damaged so far was La Paz, with loss of human lives reported.

It is followed by Cochabamba, where crops and homes have been lost in addition to families being affected.

Calvimontes said that he has been instructed by President Luis Arce not to skimp on financial and human resources to assist all families affected by the storm.
