Cuba falls below 100 cases of Covid-19

Havana, Dec 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuba today dropped below 100 cases of Covid-19, for the first time in months, by confirming 88 positives, 22 less than the previous day, two deaths were also reported as a result of the disease.

The country has accumulated during almost 21 months of follow-up to the pandemic 963,90 contagions with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and a total of 8,309 fatalities, according to the latest report of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

The number of confirmed active cases decreased by 59, from 608 to 549; while 3,153 people are hospitalized, 2,518 are suspected of carrying the virus and 86 are under surveillance, said the Ministry.

The closing of December 4 showed 145 discharges (57 more than those diagnosed) and 954,175 recovered, which means 99.1 percent.

The text also noted that 22 patients, 11 of them critical and 11 serious, are being treated in the intensive care units of the hospitals.

The Minsap described as the most affected territories Camagüey with 22 (two more), Holguín with 15 new infections, Villa Clara 11 and Las Tunas 10; while Artemisa, Mayabeque and Granma stand out without registering cases.

In the region of the Americas, 98 million 740,468 people are reported infected with Covid-19 (249,806 more), 37.16 percent of the world total, with 10 million 873,215 active and 2 million 384,435 dead (3,166 more), for a lethality of 2.41 percent, the report added.
