The Foreign Ministry of Belarus indicated that the new sanctions “demonstrate the levels of cynicism and duplicity that militant democratizers can reach in their vain efforts to bring countries and peoples to their knees.”
It stressed that, as on other occasions, the Minsk authorities will respond to the unfriendly anti-Belarusian measures in a precise way.
Belarus considered unsustainable the “pseudo-arguments” used by these countries to justify the measures, such as the accusations about their connection with the “weakening of peace and security in Europe” or with “the exploitation of vulnerable immigrants”.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry stressed that Minsk is not to blame for the weakening of security and the migration crisis, but rather that it is the Western states that destroyed peace and the way of life in the countries that are a source of emigration.
“The main flow of refugees and immigrants to Europe does not go through Belarus. And our Western partners know this very well, but they prefer not to listen or hear any arguments,” said the diplomatic service of this country and reiterated that the only way to resolve the current situation in relations between Belarus and the West is through equitable dialogue and cooperation beneficial to both parties. “We are ready to resume this dialogue and this cooperation at all times,” it concluded.
