The two newly Omicron-infected people were passengers traveling on a flight from South Africa, stopped in Ethiopia and landed at Guarulhos International Airport, Sao Paulo, on November 27.
The two passengers headed for Brasilia. One showed symptom and the other remains asymptomatic. Both were isolated.
Given the facts, Brazilian Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga said population must trust the country´s health authorities and get vaccinated. He also stated there are no reasons for a “total lockdown”.
He specified there is only a notice of the new variant. It has mutations, “but its degree of impact on human health is still unknown.”
Despite confirming these new Omicron variant cases, Mr. Queiroga also said Brazil´s vaccination campaign really guarantees peace to face all variants of the coronavirus.
Mr. Queiroga confirmed on Wednesday a third Omicron variant case. A passenger from Ethiopia flight who landed in Guarulhos, also on November 27, as he came back positive for Covid-19.
