Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed optimism about a possible settlement, although the position of the remaining signatories of the deal will pave the way.
Since Monday, representatives of the Islamic Republic, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, China and Germany began a round of negotiations to save the JCPOA, which is in crisis due to the United States’ withdrawal in 2018.
In his view, progress is being made in Vienna and there is reception of the Islamic Republic’s priority on its claim to lift the US anti-Iranian coercive measures.
Iran and the remaining signatories held six previous rounds of talks without any result on how to get that the United States can return to the deal.
Iran insists and will insist that in order to revive the JCPOA, the respect of any future US Government to the multilateral pact under the UN Security Council’s Resolution 2231 must also be guaranteed.
