In statements to Prensa Latina, the deputy director of the institution, Elier Ramirez, pointed out that the inauguration of the web portal is full of symbolism, since it coincides with the 65th anniversary of the landing in Cuba of the 82 expedition members of the Granma yacht who would overthrow the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship (1952-1959).
The opening of the Center was on November 25, 2021. Those young people with the leadership of Fidel Castro departed from Mexico on the same day but in 1956; and it is the idea that the leader sets sail again and continues to live despite his physical departure, he recalled.
The doctor in Historic Sciences emphasized that the digital page, available at www.centrofidel.cu, will help multiply the message, feelings, knowledge about that personality, and take them outside the earthly limits of the institution.
As explained by Claudia Torres, a specialist at the Center, the website consists of 12 sections, where it is possible to see images of what is considered one of the most important figures of the 20th century, phrases, news related to the entity and articles by researchers.
It also features the schedule of events, information about the different rooms, books, bulletins, magazines and a timeline with photos and phrases of Fidel Castro from his birth (August 13, 1926) until his death (November 25, 2016).
The Center consists of nine exhibition rooms, a library and media library, an amphitheater, exhibition rooms, a bookstore and a printing press, all equipped with a high-level technology that allows interactive access to information.
