The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that the extension came into force this Wednesday, and considered it as a sign of the high level of coordination between both countries and of the commitment to maintain global strategic stability.
According to the office, the decision will make it possible to make important contributions to the international system on arms control, security and world peace.
China and Russia signed the agreement in October 2009.
Relations between the two powers are continuously developed and get consolidated thanks to their comprehensive strategic partnership, mutual trust, coordination, and joint military exercises.
Recently, further extended as well was their ‘Good Neighbor and Friendly Cooperation’ Treaty, signed 20 years ago and considered a milestone since it allowed both governments to strengthen communication.
There was also the coordination of positions against hegemony and manipulation of the international order at a time of renewed hostility from the United States and the European Union, as well as the agreement to fight disinformation campaigns and rely on maintaining stability in the areas around the two countries.
As a novelty, Moscow and Beijing considered it pertinent to examine the possible recognition of vaccines developed on each side, oppose the politicization of the issue and join forces in efforts to provide the immunizers to poor nations.
Among other aspects, they proposed holding a summit of permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to facilitate direct dialogue and discussion of solutions to problems faced by all human beings and help maintain world stability. pgh/lcr
