US State Department said in a statement on Tuesday that these new restrictions are to limit visas for these nine diplomats including members of Cuba´s Interior Ministry (MININT) and of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), although their names are not mentioned.
According to US State Secretary Antony Blinken, the new restrictions are aimed at those who undermine the capacity of the Cuban people to improve their political, economic and security conditions, not to mention the consequences of the US blockade on Cuba´s development.
On Twitter, Mr. Blinken reiterated his government’s support for a regime change in Cuba despite the failure of destabilizing attempts promoted by current administration and previous ones.
According to Washington, the Cuban government harassed activists and hindered the holding of Nov. 15 march, an action previously declared as illegal by the Cuban authorities for requesting a change in the socialist system endorsed in the Constitution.
