Ahmed made the call after a meeting with senior federal army officials, in which they set the military strategies to be followed in the coming days during the offensive against the TPLF, according to an official report.
The war is over, said the premier, who addressed his appeal mainly to the Front’s youth and, in addition, urged Tigray’s mothers to ask for their sons, who were forcibly involved in the armed conflict.
Ethiopia, he remarked, fights against any enemy that is looting, killing and raping, and is committed to eliminate the forces of the terrorist group soon.
Since November 2020, the federal army has been waging a war against the Front, which has been declared a terrorist group by Parliament and accused of violating human rights and committing other crimes in Tigray, Afar and Amhara regions, among other states.
The dead, displaced people and material damages are increasing daily and, although the Government made several calls such as the one this Tuesday, a solution without using arms is improbable.
