The Palestinians have the legitimate and full right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent State on their territory and their capital, Jerusalem, the diplomat said during an event on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

He stressed the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homes in accordance with Resolution No. 194 adopted in 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly.

Syria has always treated the Palestinian cause as its own par excellence, and all Syrians consider it an issue that belongs to them, the diplomat said.

To date, the international community made no progress to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, and the occupying authorities were not held accountable for their violations and disregard for international laws, he concluded.
