The winter session of the Indian legislative body began this Monday but the proceedings of the lower house and the upper house (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively) were adjourned until noon some few minutes after the meeting started, Scroll.in news website reported.
Lok Sabha was adjourned as opposition leaders shouted slogans against the three farm laws, while Rajya Sabha was adjourned to pay tribute to senior Indian National Congress party leader Oscar Fernandes, who died in September.
During an all-party meeting convened by the Government before the Assembly’s work starts, the opposition demanded a debate on the Pegasus dispute, price hikes and unemployment, the Press Trust of India agency noted.
Debates in Parliament are due to conclude on December 23.
