Seoul, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado on Wednesday wound up a State visit to South Korea, which aims to promote his country as an investment destination and strengthen bilateral ties.

During his third and last day in this Asian nation, Alvarado toured the Incheon Free Economic Zone, and held meetings with Yannick Glemarec, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, and the rectors of the University of Utah and the George Mason University.

On Tuesday, Alvarado and South Korean President Moon Jae-in signed a Joint Declaration to move from a comprehensive cooperation alliance to an action-oriented strategic approach.

They also agreed to boost trade and investment, digital cooperation, environment, science, technology and innovation, health and medicine, as well as to work together for the security and development of Central America.

The Joint Declaration also includes South Korea’s proposal to restore the cooperation fund between this country and the Central American Integration System (SICA) and the creation of the South Korea-SICA Cooperation Center.

During the meeting, they announced that South Korea donated 10 million dollars to Costa Rica to promote nine cooperation areas such as environment, infrastructure, education, health, public safety, science, culture, tourism and sports, and stated that this is thanks to the consolidation of the Action-Oriented Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries. Both sides also signed four memorandums of understanding in the scientific, digital, environmental and cooperation areas.
