vietnam-covid
Hanoi, nov 23 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam reported today 11,132 cases of Covid-19, the highest number since September 22, thus accumulating a total of 1,143,967.

According to the Ministry of Health, 99.7 percent of the infected contracted the disease after the outbreak that occurred at the end of last April, worsened by the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

From the cases, 1,204 have been detected in southern Ho Chi Minh City, since the fourth rebound began.

This Tuesday the country also reported 167 deaths, for a total of 24,118.

Just over 5,300 patients present a compromised clinical status.

Although the number of infections today is far from a maximum of 17,409 reported on September 27, as the nation was going through its worst moment in the face of the pandemic, it is still a sign of the increasing trend in recent days.

In a risky bet to relaunch the economy, at the end of October the government lifted the more strict sanitary regulations and reopened industries and businesses.

Only the most basic ones were kept, such as the mandatory use of sanitary masks and the prohibition of mass gatherings.

The decision was based on the notable decline in cases and progress in the vaccination campaign.

In a population of almost 98 millions, some 44 million people completed the immunization plan and about 111 millions got a first dose.
