The official stressed that such decisions are negative, especially in the context of strong efforts to try to establish a dialogue between Russia and the United States that has already been lost before.
“The sanctions on Nord Stream 2 are a continuation of this sanctions language that Washington stubbornly refuses to give up,” Peskov told reporters at a press conference.
The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the Congress was provided with a report under the Protecting Europe’s Energy Security Act of 2019 for a possible imposition of sanctions for works on the Nord Stream 2 project.
The Report proposes punishing eight persons and identifies 17 vessels related to the gas pipeline as properties that will be blocked. It also lists two vessels and one Russia-linked entity, Transadria Ltd., involved in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
The Moscow ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, considered unacceptable the new sanctions imposed by the United States Government against entities related to Nord Stream 2.
“Washington’s attempts to maintain dialogue with Moscow by way of sanctions are unacceptable and violate international law,” said the diplomat.
