Joe Biden intends to return again in 2024, White House confirms

Biden
Washington, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) US President Joe Biden intends to run for re-election in 2024, a statement that comes amid speculation over his future as the president sees a dip in his approval rating, White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed.

The Washington Post newspaper reported over the weekend that President Joe Biden and member of his circle have reassured allies in recent days that he plans to run for re-election in 2024, and that he is keen to quash rumors of a one-term presidency.

Although President Biden’s plans for 2024 could change in coming two years, sources close to him hold, since he took office in January, that he would campaign for a second term.

However, speculation about whether he (Biden) would return to the Oval Office is marked by his age and waning popularity in recent weeks amid dissatisfaction with the state of the domestic economy and, in particular, rising prices.

If elected, Biden would be 82 at his second term and would also remain as oldest US president ever.

During the 2020 Democratic primary, Joe Biden said that he viewed himself as a transitional figure within the party, but that he was in a unique position to defeat then-ruling Donald Trump.
