Following this event, the military and police forces launched an operation in the area to capture the attackers, said the Minister of Security, Máxime Koné.
Since 2015, Burkina Faso, like other countries in the Sahel region, has been the scene of deadly attacks by groups affiliated with the Al-Qaeda network and the Islamic State.
Attacks on military and police posts have increased in recent weeks, particularly near the border with neighboring Mali.
According to the United Nations, violence unleashed by armed groups in Burkina Faso has displaced more than 1.2 million civilians.
