On his official Twitter account, the president acknowledged the contribution of young people from the University of Computer Sciences and the Jose Antonio Echeverria Higher Polytechnic Institute in Havana, who accompanied him in during the military training at a tank unit.
The head of State also recalled in a tweet a demonstrative exercise to confront an emergency situation at the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.
“We checked the preparedness of our firefighters and it was impossible not to remember the May 18, 2018, painful event,” Diaz-Canel tweeted in reference to the plane crash that date in the vicinity of the Havana airport, where more than 100 people were killed.
On Saturday, Cuba celebrated the National Defense Day, with the participation of Army General Raul Castro, Diaz-Canel and other leaders and military chiefs.
