Military forces will be present at the 2,800 polling stations, while law enforcement agents will be in charge of safeguarding public order.
According to the Head of the Police Office Gen. Juan Muñoz, such an institution will set up three security rings in sectors surrounding polling stations and main streets and avenues.
Throughout the day, police officers will use helicopters and drones to monitor the electoral process, the newspaper La Tercera reported.
“As if the loss of prestige of the Police Officers were not enough, likely to a disproportionate raid in the use of force,” constituent and academic Christian Viera wrote.
