Mr. Nasr, who is currently visiting Venezuela, told Prensa Latina News Agency his presence responds to an invitation by the National Electoral Council (CNE), but also to a gesture of friendship.
“We came to observe regional and municipal elections and hope the kind Venezuelan people will be successful and know how to elect leaders who are in a position to serve their people and government,” he stressed.
Nasr recalled that Venezuela´s process is the result of a forceful political talk, promoted by the Bolivarian Government.
CNE´s President Pedro Calzadilla, on the other hand, praised the deployment of around 300 international observers who will oversee the development of the electoral process, as part of actions to guarantee transparency and legitimacy of the so-called mega-elections.
