Stillbirths are higher in pregnant women with Covid-19 – ACDC study

Washington, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Pregnant women who had Covid-19 when they delivered their babies were almost twice as likely to have a stillbirth as healthy women who did not have Covid, according to a new Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study released Friday

Result was further proof of significance of vaccination in pregnant women against Covid-19, the CDC added, while saying that 1.26% of births occurred between March 2020 and September 2021 in infected mothers gave rise to stillbirths. However, it was only 0.65% in deliveries in the case of women without Covid-19.

“Applying evidence-based prevention strategies, including vaccination before or during pregnancy, is critical to reduce the impact of Covid-19 on stillbirths,” the report noted.
