Prensa Latina and Saudi Arabia to consolidate press cooperation

Havana, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Prensa Latina and the Embassy of Saudi Arabia have agreed here on the need to consolidate cooperation for the objective coverage of events both in Cuba and in the Middle East. The new Saudi ambassador to the island, Mr. Faisal Falah Alharbi, visited the headquarters of the Latin American news agency where he was welcomed by its Chairman Luis Enrique Gonzalez, and they exchanged views on the links between their two countries and ways to strengthen collaboration.

Prensa Latina has a news exchange agreement with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), sealed in 2018, among the more than 90 it has signed with news media organizations.

Mr. González considered that Prensa Latina can make greater use of SPA’s news service, especially the coverage it carries out on national and regional events, in order to achieve a greater informative balance, and on official visits of Riyadh officials to Cuba.

Ambassador Alharbi considered it a “great pleasure” to visit the headquarters of the Latin American agency and talk with its President, who outlined the institution’s history, its work and main informative activities it carries out.

The chief of mission highlighted the “good state of bilateral ties between our friendly countries, as well as the importance that the Government of the Kingdom attaches to relations with Cuba”.

“In my contacts with officials here since I arrived four months ago, I have also been told that this is a fact and is of interest, too, for Cuban leaders,” the Ambassador added.

Mr. Alharbi also said that he agreed with Gonzalez to continue the existing collaboration between the Saudi Press Agency and the Prensa Latina News Agency, as well as to explore niches to expand that working cooperation.
