Cuba supports Nicaragua’s decision to withdraw from OAS

Havana, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Friday said his country supported Nicaragua's decision to withdraw from the Organization of American States (OAS), while condemning the organization's interference in internal affairs.

Nicaragua´s decision is a firm response to maneuvers led by Luis Almagro, OAS head, the Cuban Foreign Minister (MINREX) posted on Twitter.

“We support #Nicaragua’s decision to withdraw from OAS, which constitutes a firm and worthy response to Almagro´s maneuvers, in league with the United States, in order to try to meddle in Nicaragua´s decisions,¨ Bruno Rodríguez live-tweeted.

Nicaragua´s Foreign Ministry sent on Friday a letter of complaint to Luis Almagro and announced its decision to definitively withdraw from OAS.

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada recalled statements condemning OAS´ interventionist actions, including National Assembly, the Supreme Court of Justice and the National Electoral Council.

Moncada also recognized that Nicaragua’s attachment to issues such as abstention from the use of force, threats, and the non-imposition of unilateral, illegal, and coercive measures, elements that must be complied with by OAS.
