At least 4.8 million Italians at risk of food poverty

Rome, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) At least 4.8 million Italians are at risk of food poverty in the coming months due to inflation, as revealed by a Coldiretti/Censis report after Covid-19.

The research by the Confederation of Direct Farmers and the Center for Social Research, presented at the opening ceremony of the International Forum on Food and Agriculture, focused on the complicated food situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Food price rise is enough to make it very difficult for a large number of people to guarantee food at proper frequencies.

According to the report, nearly one in four Italians (24%) fear food shortages ahead of a worsening pandemic emergency, for which they ask to strengthen and protect local agriculture, while appreciating a guarantee for regular supply.
