During the opening of the 9th North American Leaders Summit -held at the White House- the rulers tried to project the image of a united front amid trade disputes, accusations of US protectionism and migration concerns.

At the first moment of the meeting, to which the press had access, President Joe Biden referred to the significance of the meeting to handle the economic recovery, Covid-19 and the migration challenges.
Justin Trudeau agreed that top priority is to end health crisis to stimulate growth, strengthen the supply chain and integrate the economy to promote employment.
Likewise, the Mexican president talked about the ratification of the treaty among the three nations in 2020 as a wise decision, and assured that economic integration with respect to sovereignty is the best instrument to face competition from other regions of the world.
López Obrador also pointed out that while Mexico, Canada and the United States account for just 13% of global market, China boasts off 14.4% and, if current trend continues, China could have 42%.
Regarding immigration, the Mexican president thanked Joe Biden for being -in his opinion- the US president who has shown the most interest in solving issues and praised Biden´s will to regularize the status of over 11 million undocumented immigrants.
