According to the French Public Health entity, 20,366 coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours, after registering as many as 20,294 cases on Wednesday, unpublished figures since end-August.

The increased positivity rate of tests to detect SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was also disturbing, accounting for 4.1% after two days with indicator at 3.7%.

In hospitals, the number of people admitted by Covid-19 jumped to 7,787, 1,333 of them are in ICUs, a rise of 124 and 33, respectively, compared to what was reported on Wednesday.

Regarding France´s death toll, Public Health regretted 57 deaths, raising the total number to 118,373 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.

French government acknowledges deterioration in health situation, but it insisted that it is not as serious as in neighboring countries, particularly Germany and Belgium. Therefore, it urged French people to be more responsible and speeds up vaccination campaign by applying the third dose for those aging 65 years, and calls nearly six million French people who have not been immunized to do so as soon as possible.
